Factors Related to Snack Food Consumption Behavior of Teenagers at Public Schools in Bangkok

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study: 1) snack food consumption behavior of public schools teenagers in Bangkok, and 2) factors related to snack food consumption behavior of public schools teenagers in Bangkok. This research was a survey research. Data collected from 430 public schools teenagers in Bangkok, were analysis to acquire percentage, mean, standard, and Chi-square.

          The findings showed that junior high school students in Bangkok Metropolis had practice regularly food consumption behaviors. More than two-thirds of students ate snack food because they were attracted with delicious flavors, two thirds of students ate snack food during various activities; reading book, playing game computer or mobile phone. Mostly two thirds of students bought snack food from convenience stores or supermarket, and students ate snack food because they were easily to eat and more than half of students ate snack food for relieve hungry or secondary food. The study of factors related to snack food consumption behavior showed that: Social factor information was related to snack consumption behavior, statistically significant at the .01 level.
