Abstract

A Construction of Tennis Skill Tests and Norms for Kasetsart University Students

The purposes of this research were to construct the tennis skill tests and to establish norms for the students at Kasetsart University, Bangkhen campus. The sample of this study was 184 male and female students who took the course 01175113 Tennis for Health at Kasetsart University, Bangkhen campus in the second semester 2015. The test comprised of 6 items:1) Forehand Groundstroke Skill, 2) Backhand Groundstroke Skill, 3) Serve Skill: Right Side, 4) Serve Skill: Left Side,5) Volley Forehand Skill, and 6) Volley Backhand Skill. Finding the Face Validity of the test was approved by 4 experts. The data were analyzed by using means, standard deviation, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient for reliability. Norms were established by raw scores and T-score.

The results of the research showed that the reliability of tennis skill tests both male and female students were 1) 0.96/0.93, 2) 0.91/0.89, 3) 0.93/0.91, 4) 0.95/0.93, 5) 0.95/0.96, and  6) 0.92/0.91, respectively. All reliabilities of tennis skill tests were very high, except only on the reliability of female backhand groundstroke skill was high. The norms of 6 tennis skill tests for male and female undergraduate students were established by the raw scores and T-Score. The norms were classified into 8 levels which are excellent, very good, good, above average, average, below average, poor, and fail respectively. It was concluded that the tennis skill tests and norms which the researcher constructed is of good quality for testing the tennis skill.
