The Study of Ability in Solving Word Problems and Mathematics Learning Achievement on “Inequalities” of Mathayomsuksa Three Students by Using SSCS Model
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the ability in solving mathematical word problems on “Inequalities” by using SSCS model and 2) to study students’ mathematics learning achievement on “Inequalities” of mathayomsuksa three students by using SSCS model.
The sample group was 49 mathayomsuksa three students of one classroom at Rittiyawannalai School in the second semester of the academic year 2014 that was selected by cluster random sampling from 12 classrooms. The instruments in data collection consisted of 12 lesson plans on “Inequalities” of mathayomsuksa three students by using SSCS model, the mathematics ability test in solving word problemson “Inequalities” of mathayomsuksa three students, and the mathematics learning achievement test on “Inequalities” of mathayomsuksa three students. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test were used for analyzing data and presented by tables with their corresponding descriptions.
The research findings revealed that 1) the students had ability in solving mathematical word problems on “Inequalities” at the good level and 2) the mathematics learning achievement after learning was higher than 60% at the .05 level of significance.
