Theme-Based Unit: Challenge of Learning Design for New-age Teachers

The 21^st century learning should mainly focus on learners’ skills and competencies rather than on content knowledge. Lessons should be presented through interdisciplinary themes integrating knowledge from each core subject. Themes must be contemporary, relating real-world issues, motivating and challenging for students. Hence teacher, as a learning designer, must creativity select crucial themes that expand learner’s concepts. This paper presented Theme-Based Learning (TBL) and application to create learning units.
