Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the effects of problem – based learning to enhance life skills in creative problem solving ability of grade five students in Learning Area of Occupations and Technology, Assumption College English Program School, Samut Sakhon Province. The development of lesson plan and research instrument were comprised of 5 steps, including 1) studying in related theoretical concepts about problem – based learning and life skills in creative problem solving ability, 2) developing lesson plan of Occupational Works subject in Career Topic, 3) creating research tools to collect research data, 4) verifying the quality of research tools both lesson plan and 3 evaluation forms: a form for life skills in creative problem solving ability evaluation, a form for student evaluation and a form for student observation using Content Validity and trying out with 23 students from grade 5/3 and 5) analyzing data using frequency, percentage and content analysis to adjust and correct the better lesson plan and research tools for 23 students from grade 5/2 who were selected by using purposive sampling selection.

The research finding that the effects of problem – based learning to enhance life skills in creative problem solving ability is that most of  students have improved their life skills in creative problem solving ability in high level with 77.4 percent, most of students have improved their process of creative problem solving in highest level with 84.78 percent and most of students participated in problem – based learning activity, life skills and problem solving skill in high and highest level with 84.89 percent. The total score was 82.35 percent which reached the standard score.
