Teacher Leadership: Adaptation of a Western Concept to Thai Educational Contexts
Main Article Content
Abstract
Several western countries have put emphasis on teacher leadership. It has been continuously studied and for a long time. In Thailand, teacher leadership is a new concept which has not been widely adopted in Thai educational contexts. However, this concept is consistent with educational reform given that a reform which is sustainable and effective is teacher reform. This article offers a history of teacher leadership concept ad its components from the past to the present in order to show the development of the concept. It also presents a model of Thai teacher leadership adapted from the western concepts in accordance with the Thai educational context, and suggestions for developing Thai teachers' leadership which will lead to higher quality of Thai education.
