Editorial assessment and peer review

Submissions are first checked for completeness, relevance to the journal's scope and preliminary scholarly quality. Manuscripts selected for external review undergo double-blind peer review by specialists with relevant expertise and no competing interests that would compromise their assessment.

Acceptance requires favourable recommendations from at least two reviewers and approval by the editor, who makes the final publication decision. Submission or an invitation to revise does not guarantee acceptance.

The journal publishes three issues annually.

Open access, copyright and licensing

Published articles are freely available online upon publication, without a subscription or access embargo. Articles published from Volume 37, Issue 2 (May–August 2026) are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International licence — CC BY-NC 4.0. This licence permits sharing and adaptation for non-commercial purposes, subject to attribution and the other licence conditions.

Copyright remains with the authors or identified rights holders. They grant the journal and its publisher a non-exclusive licence for publication and related activities under the publishing agreement. Third-party material is subject to its accompanying rights information. Articles published before Volume 37, Issue 2 remain governed by the terms applicable to each article.

Publication fees

A publication fee applies to accepted articles at the journal's published rates. Authors should pay after acceptance and receipt of instructions from the Editorial Office. Editorial decisions are independent of publication fees. Rejected submissions incur no publication or processing fees.
