Development of an Activity Model for Enhancing Information and Communication Technology skills in 21st Century Learning Management for Municipal School Teachers under the Local Administrative Organization in Yala Province

Abstract

The research objectives were 1) to study the current state and needs of information and communication technology skills for learning management in the 21st century, 2) to develop an activity model to develop skills in using information and communication technology for learning management in the 21st century, and 3) to study the effect of using the activity model to develop skills in using information and communication technology for learning management in the 21st century. The subjects of this study were 288 municipal school teachers under the local administrative organizations in Yala Province. The tools used in the research were a needs assessment questionnaire, a test, a skill assessment form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used were mean, standard deviation, and t-test.


The research results were as follows:
1. As for the requirements for skills in the use of information and communication technology for learning management in the 21st century, it was found that teachers had a need for technology to support teaching and learning activities (PNImodified=0.31), followed by information technology selection in teaching and learning (PNImodified=0.25) and information technology use behavior of teachers (PNImodified=0.21).
2. The activity model for enhancing Information and Communication Technology skills consisted of four components: Analysis, Planning, Training and Evaluation (APTE Model). The evaluation of the model by experts was at a high level.
3. After having implemented the activity, it was found that teachers had knowledge scores. and scores on skills in using information and communication technology after training higher than before training. It was statistically significant at the .05 level and the satisfaction with the activity model was at the highest level (gif.latex?\bar{X}=4.91, S.D.=0.29).
