Problems and Guidelines for Resolving of Human Trafficking Prevention and Suppression of Provincial Police Region 4

Human trafficking is a global crime issue that Thailand has set as a crucial national agenda. The Royal Thai Police is the main agency for the human trafficking prevention and suppression, which has conducted policies and plans to provide to police officers follow. In this study, the authors intend to find the answers of research problems include: what are the problems of human trafficking prevention and suppression? and how to resolve such problems? This study is a qualitative research that the purposes were 1) to study the problems of human trafficking prevention and suppression of Provincial Police Region 4 and 2) to study guidelines for resolving the human trafficking prevention and suppression of Provincial Police Region 4. The two research methods were used: 1) related documentary studies, and 2) in-depth interviews. Data collection was performed by using semi-structured interviews which data were checked by experts and triangulation was conducted. The 24 key informants consisted of four superintendents, six deputy-superintendents, four inspectors, five deputy-inspectors, and five group commanders were selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study according to the seven aspects of POSDCoRB management concept found that 1) problems of human trafficking prevention and suppression of Provincial Police Region 4 were found five problems, including planning; organizing; staffing; coordinating; and budgeting, and the other two aspects such as directing and reporting were not found problem. Furthermore, 2) Guidelines for resolving of human trafficking prevention and suppression of Provincial Police Region 4 of this study proposes guidelines for resolving were covered the five problems.
