Developing Early Childhood Students’ Speaking Ability through Show Playing Activities together with Storytelling

The objectives of this study were 1) to promote show playing together with storytelling of early childhood students in order for them to pass the criterion of 70% or higher and at least 70% of the students passed the criterion and 2) to develop early childhood students’ speaking ability through show playing activities together with storytelling in order that the students passed the criterion of 70% or higher and at least 70% of the students passed the criterion. at Sanambin School during the first semester of academic year 2019 . 1) 8 lesson plans consisting of 8 stories of The Little Kangaroos, The Rabbit and the Tortoise, The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Red Purse, The Lion and the Rat, The Perseverance of The Black Ant, the Three Piglets, and The Butterfly Wings, 2) a speaking ability test of early childhood students which comprised the 3 aspects of vocabulary usage, speaking in sentences and telling stories. The test results showed that: the students made a mean score of 19.40 on show playing together with storytelling out of the full marks of 24 which is an equivalent of 80.83 percent (standard deviation = 2.51), and 28 students or 80.00 percent of the whole group passed the passing criterion of 70%. and the matter of the students’ vocabulary speaking ability, extemporaneous sentence composition and storytelling, test results showed that: on vocabulary speaking, the students made a mean score of 29.57 out of 40, or 73.93% of the full marks (standard deviation = 1.46), and 35 students or 100% of the whole group passed the passing criterion of 70% and on sentence composition, the students made a mean score of 20.97 out of 24, or 87.38% of the full marks (standard deviation = 0.49), and 35 students or 100% of the whole group passed the passing criterion of 70% and on storytelling, the students made a mean score of 21.14 out of 24, or 88.08% of the full marks (standard deviation = 2.23), and 35 students or 100% of the whole group passed the passing criterion of 70%.
