Cataloging standard for television information resources : Public Broadcasting Metadata Dictionary Project : PBCore

Abstract

This article presents the concept of PBCore metadata the standard for cataloging televisionmedia. This standard focuses on audiovisual content. This enhances the standardization of cataloging television programs so that the interoperability and long-term preservation could beeffectively happened. PBCore was developed by public broadcasting communities in the United States. There are 3 groups of elements along with examples of applications for cataloging in digital content management programs and examples of agencies that have applied are explained.
