บทคัดย่อ
บทความวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการใช้อุปลักษณ์เพื่อสื่อถึงความเป็นแม่ ที่ปรากฏอยู่ในการใช้ภาษาเชิงความเปรียบ โดยเก็บกลุ่มตัวอย่างจากนิตยสารเกี่ยวกับแม่และลูก ซึ่งเป็นนิตยสารเฉพาะกลุ่มที่มีเนื้อหาที่สื่อถึงความเป็นแม่ที่สะท้อนระบบมโนทัศน์ หรือ “มโนอุปลักษณ์” (Conceptual metaphor) และความคาดหวังของสังคมต่อผู้เป็นแม่ ที่แตกต่างไปจากสังคมสมัยก่อน ผ่านการใช้อุปลักษณ์ โดยใช้กรอบแนวคิดมุมมองอุปลักษณ์ตามแนวภาษาศาสตร์ปริชาน ของ เลคอฟและจอนสัน เพื่อศึกษาถ้อยคำอุปลักษณ์ และมโนอุปลักษณ์ ที่สะท้อนกรอบแนวคิดของการเป็นแม่ยุคใหม่ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า อุปลักษณ์ของแม่ ที่กล่าวถึงในนิตยสารเกี่ยวกับแม่และเด็ก ได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงบทบาทของแม่ในสังคมร่วมสมัย ที่ถูกคาดหวังให้เป็นทั้งผู้หญิงที่ทำงานเก่งทั้งนอกบ้านและในบ้าน โดยใช้บทบาทของการทำงานในฐานะต่าง ๆ มาเปรียบเทียบกับบทบาทของแม่ที่ต้องรับผิดชอบจัดการงานภายในบ้าน มโนอุปลักษณ์ที่เกี่ยวกับแม่ที่ปรากฏจึงไม่เพียงสะท้อนบทบาทแม่ของผู้หญิงยุคใหม่ แต่ยังแสดงให้เห็นการผลิตซ้ำวาทกรรมความคาดหวังต่อผู้หญิงที่ยังวนเวียนอยู่ในมิติเดิม
