MOTHER: A REFLECTION OF MOTHERHOOD PORTRAYS IN THE LANGUAGE AND CONCEPT OF THAI PEOPLE

Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to study how to use metaphors to portray motherhood that appears in the use of metaphorical language by gathering samples from magazines about mothers and children, which are specialty magazines with Content that conveys motherhood that reflects the conceptual system or conceptual metaphor and the and social expectations towards mothers which are different from the society in the past through the use of metaphors of Mother is using Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual framework for the metaphorical viewpoint that was utilized to investigate metaphors that reflect the concept of motherhood in the new era. The research’s findings indicated that mothers are like administrators stated in magazines about mothers and children showing the roles of mothers in contemporary society, which are expected to be both women who work successfully outside and inside their houses by comparing the roles with those of a mother who is responsible for managing home tasks. The metaphor of a mother that appears not just only to reflect the responsibilities of women in modern society as mothers but also demonstrates the replication of a discourse of expectation toward women in today’s society that persists in the same dimensions.
