THE COMMUNITY POTENTIAL ON INTEGRATIVE DEVELOPMENT IN THAILAND - CAMBODIA BORDER STEPPING TOWARDS THE ASEAN COMMUNITY: THE CASE STUDY OF 2 DISTRICTS IN LANDMINE AREAS OF CHANTHABURI AND TRAT

Abstract

               The objectives of this research were to study the community potential reflecting the participation for development and to examine the contextual factors affecting the community potential in developing the landmine areas in Thailand-Cambodia Border in Chanthaburi and Trat in the time of stepping towards the ASEAN Community. The research methodology used was based on the case study. And the study of document paper, qualitative interview, and participatory observation were used in this research. The research was found the people had no abilities to remove the landmines but had potential in analyzing the problem, alternative search for development, readiness for development plan, monitoring, and project evaluation. This resulted from the readiness of cultural and social capital in the community, the expectation of economic capital connection with the organization outside the community, mutual benefits in developing the border areas as well as the host organization including with the municipality and usual community organization working as the network forum to promote the development.
