ROLES OF THE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS ENCOURAGING PEOPLE’S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN HAT YAI DISTRICT, SONGKHLA PROVINCE

Abstract

               The objectives of this research were to study the role of local newspapers in promoting the political participation of the people in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province and studying the ways In the development of local newspapers in the role of promoting political participation of the people. The researcher used the quantitative, data were collected by using questionnaire. Sample group used in this study was people aged 18 and over in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province was selected purposively from 13 sub-districts of Hatyai and 26 people of each district. The total amount of sampling group was 338 people, and found the corresponding index between the question and the definition. The test results show that The question value is between .66-1.00, passed all criteria. Data analysis using statistics to calculate frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean value, standard deviation, and F-tests.
               The finding of this study were as follows: the role of the local newspaper to promote the political participation of the people. Clearly expressed in three roles: 1) the transfer of knowledge. Political information, 2) its role as a political tool examination and 3) the role of the political coordination and understanding. It was only the integrity of the individual, it depends on whether people will have opinions and attitudes in each role. The overall public opinion on the acts of 3 roles of the newspapers were at a medium level, all 5 newspapers have given importance to the campaign to end the political conflict Foster love Unity in society For the public to be informed quickly, correct in the event and conduct continuous audits without prejudice and under pressure from various factors.
