THE BUDDHIST ART WITH A DATABASE OF LOCAL SCHOLARS OF THE PRAYER (SUAD BERK) AND MAHACHAT’S PREACHER OF LAMPANG PROVINCE

Abstract

               The purpose of this research was 1) to gather and develop a local scholar database for the prayers (Suad Berk) and Mahachat’s preachers in Lampang province. 2) To provide local philosopher information services of the prayers and the preachers in Lampang to those who are interested using a survey research process. The participants consisted of 50 monks and novices who is ability to pray (Suad Berk) and 50 monks who is ability to preach (Mahachat). Results The results showed that there are 107 monks and novices providing information divided into 89 monks, and 18 novices.  A number of local scholars include; 27 from Meung-district, 25 from Hangchat-district, 14 from Kawka-district, 13 from Maetha-district, 11 from Sopprab-district, 7 from Jaehom-district, 6 from Wangneu-district, 6 from Tern-district, 2 from Ngo-district, 1 from Maeprig-district, and 1 from Meungpan-district. As for Mae Moh-district and Serm Ngam-district, there is no data returned. The age range of local scholars under 20 is 16, between the age of 20-30 is 23, age 31-40 is 12, age 41-50 is 18, age 51-60 is 24, and above the age of 60 is 14, Number of rainy season of Local scholars is; between the age of 5-10 is 35, 11-20 is 16, 21-30 is 25, above 30 rainy season is 16, and novices not counted rainy season are 15.  The study of scholars’ Dhamma level is; 9 monks who attained basic Dhamma level, 7 monks who attained second Dhamma level, and 88 monks who attained advanced Dhamma level. There are 19 scholars who attained the study of Pali level; there are 10 monks who attained Pali level of 1-2, 1 monk who attained Pali level 3, 6 monks who attained Pali level 4, and 2 monks who attained Pali level 6. These scholars can be divided into 65 monks are prayers, and 14 monks are preachers.  There are 19 local scholars who are capable of both a prayer and a preacher provided local scholar information in Lampang for interested people on Lampang Buddhist College’s website at (http://www.mculampang.com)
