Abstract

This research article intends to investigate how merit-sin beliefs affect the lives of Buddhist undergraduate students in Lampang Province. This study employed a questionnaire as part of its survey methodology. 400 participants made up the sample, and percentage, mean, and descriptive statistics were used.

According to the study's findings, the majority of the respondents were women between the ages of 21 and 25, studying accounting at a faculty of business administration and technology at the fourth-year level, living in Lampang Province, and having a GPA of 2.00 to 2.50. The average monthly income of the family is less than 5,000 baht, and most of the parents are farmers with only an elementary education. The respondents' lives were affected by their perceptions of sin and merit. The total mean was 4.22, which was broken down into high, medium, and low difficulties. The average, which was 3.98, indicated a strong level of belief in Buddhist ideas. Buddhism's role in fighting corruption received the most votes overall. A 4.24 average was assigned to the idea of good and bad karma. The most offensive argument is that people would listen to, respect, and trust a speaker who speaks the truth rather than lies. The mean score for belief in heaven and hell was a strong 4.19. The claim that those who uphold the precepts after they pass away will enter paradise is the one in which I have the strongest faith. The mean for believing based on all external social influences was a high level of 4.46. The respondents' main concern was whether or not those who had erred but have since atoned for them in society would be willing to pardon the current state of affairs, which is chaotic due to a lack of adherence to Buddhism's Dharma.
