Main Article Content
Abstract
The three objectives of this study are to: 1) Examine the problems relating to the security of persons and things in temples and communities in the Phrabat Sub-district, 2) examine into the creation of community statutes to enhance the security of people and things in temples and communities in the sub-district, and 3) analyze and present a model for managing the security of people and things in temples and communities in the Phrabat Sub-district in accordance with Buddhism.
This study uses a mixed approach and has quantitative and qualitative elements. 262 family leaders from the Phrabat Subdistrict made up the sample of respondents. The discussion group consisted of 14 monks and capable laypeople from the Phrabat Sub-district, while a team from the Mueang Lampang District questioned 12 monks and community leaders. According to the findings, disputes, teen assaults, fraudulent vendor sales, deceptive remarks, and money-making gambling were the issues with the safety of people and property in the temple and the community. Drug abuse destroyed families, and drunk people committed crimes and engaged in immoral behavior in temples and communities. The management of safety in people and property, including temples and communities, should establish a community-level disaster prevention organization in order to continuously monitor and neutralize risks to community members. Families should create a warm environment in their homes so that everyone feels safe home. For instance, while developing community statutes to enhance the safety of life and property of the temple and the community, community leaders should use sacrifice as a learning base regarding safety and teach members of the community how to adapt to their surroundings. Residents should carefully consider how to organize their indoor and outdoor environments in order to assist in crime prevention.
Therefore, the Yonisomanasikarn principle (analytical thinking) should be used as a basis for consideration, knowing restraint and discouraging oneself from disasters, being able to learn protective equipment in burglary, and learning how to overcome one's heart that will not involve all kinds of vices are all part of the Buddhist model for life and property safety management of temples and communities in Phrabat Sub-district. The community's leaders should concentrate on disseminating correct information and raising people's awareness of the various threats the population faces.
