OPINIONS OF THE PEOPLE TOWARDS COASTAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN BANDON BAY SURAT THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

The goals of this study were to: 1) investigate public perceptions of Bandon Bay's coastal resource management; and 2) compare public perceptions of Bandon Bay's coastal resource management as categorized by gender, age, education level, occupation, and monthly income. 348 residents of the Tha Chang District, Surat Thani Province, and its three sub-districts served as the research's sample population. A survey that the researcher devised asking people in Ban Don Bay, Surat Thani Province, their opinions on managing coastal resources served as the instrument for gathering data. A confidence value of 0.92 was assigned to the survey. In order to analyze the data, the following statistics were used: frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. Chaffe’s technique applied the individual pair test when differences were discovered, with a statistical significance level of 0.01.


According to the study's findings, the public's perceptions of Ban Don Bay's coastal resource management in Surat Thani Province were generally favorable (= 3.94), graded in descending order of knowledge and knowledge of law enforcement. The general consensus is positive (= 3.95). The promotion and support of resource conservation initiatives comes last (=3.93), then monitoring and restoration (=3.94). According to comparisons of public opinion on the management of coastal resources in Ban Don Bay, Surat Thani Province based on individual characteristics, people's opinions on the management of coastal resources in Ban Don Bay, Surat Thani Province did not differ based on sex, age, level of education, occupation, or monthly income.
