A Study of English Listening and Speaking Skills of Fifth Graders by Using the Storyline Method

The purposes of this research were to study listening and speaking English skills of fifth graders through and to compare listening and speaking English skills of students before and after learning through storyline method. Sample group were 15 fifth graders of Rakmuangthai school1 Pakthongchai, Nakhonratchasima Province, primary education service area office 3. The sample was selected by cluster random sampling process. The research instrument was 6 lesson plans. The data collection was a listening and speaking English skills pre-post test. The data were statistically analyzed for mean (x̄), percentage (%), standard deviation (S.D.), and t-test for dependent statistic.
The result showed that
- The pretest score of students in listening English skill through storyline method. The post-test score was significantly higher than the pre-test score at the .01 level differences.
- The pretest score of students in Speaking English skill through storyline method. The post-test score was significantly higher than the pre-test score at the .01 level differences.
