Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows: 1) to develop Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) on Thai Phonics for first grade students, 2) to examine CAI efficiency, 3) to compare pretest and posttest learning achievement when using CAI, and 4) to analyze experts’ recommendations toward the CAI. The target population was 15 first grade Thai students who studying during the first semester in 2016 at Kasetsart university laboratory school by purposive selection. Duration of the study was 16 periods. Data were collected from exercise and test scores for the examination of CAI efficiency by using Arithmetic Mean, Standard Deviation, and dependent t-test. Results revealed that the CAI had an efficiency of 88.33/91.50, which was higher than the expected efficiency of 80/80. By using dependent t-test, results showed that there was statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores at .05 level. The students gained higher level of reading aloud skills on Thai Phonics.
