The Storytelling Activity Provision on Natural Resource Conservation for Young Children

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effects of storytelling activity provision on the conservation of natural resources of young children. The target group was 18 young children, ages 4 - 5 years old, who were studying in K2 at Rajinibon school, Bangkok. The instruments included 24 lesson plans of the storytelling activities and the evaluation form of the conservation of natural resources for young children. The data were analyzed by Mean, Standard Deviation and the content analysis. The study showed that young children who received the storytelling activity provision on understanding had higher mean scores than the pretest one. In addition, young children showed the behaviors of natural resource conservation continuously. They suggested and reminded their peers to save water and turn off the lights when unused. They were more aware of saving the natural resources.
