Abstract

This research aimed to study the students’ attitudes toward English, teachers’ teaching quality, parents’ attention, achievement motivation, and learning environment at school that affected the Ordinary National Educational Test Scores of English subject for grade 9 in the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Bangkok 2 and to study the predicting factors affecting the Ordinary National Educational Test Scores of English subject for grade 9. The samples were 242 students in grade 10 who took the ONET English test in the academic year 2019 in the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Bangkok 2. The research instrument was the 5-likert’s scale with reliability coefficient values of each factor between .841-0.949. The statistics used to analyzed the data were mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis.

The findings revealed that opinions affecting the Ordinary National Educational Test Scores of English subject were at the high level consisting of students’ attitudes towards English, achievement motivation, teachers’ teaching quality, and learning environment at school, and parents’ attentions respectively. The predicting factors affecting the Ordinary National Educational Test Scores of English subject for grade 9 in the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Bangkok 2 were students’ attitudes towards English, parents’ attentions, and teachers’ teaching quality have 16.60 percent.
