Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is a systematical process for gathering several resources of data and analyzing data. The purpose of this systematical process is to identify the function of the target behavior of a student and develop an behavior intervention plan that respond to the need of a student. To complete this process, there are five steps which consist of identifying a problem behavior, gathering data from direct and indirect assessments, developing hypothesis, examining hypothesis, and developing behavior intervention plan. FBA process has been recognized in the field of special education as high-quality process for decreasing problem behaviors and increasing acceptable behaviors of students without and with disabilities. The purpose of this article is to introduce the basis knowledge on the FBA process for special education teachers in Thailand in order to encourage the use of the FBA process in Thai classrooms.
