Abstract

Effectiveness of Health Education Program for Health Literacy Development By Cooperative Learning to Promote Safety Motorcycling Behaviour of Mathayomsuksa Students, Benchamatheputit Phetchaburi School, Phetchaburi

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to study the effectiveness of health education program for health literacy development by cooperative learning to promote safety motorcycling behavior of secondary school students of Benchamatheputhit Phetchaburi schools, Sixty -six of Secondary school students were selected by simple random sampling method to be subjects in this study. The subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental group and control group. They were thirty-two and thirty-four subjects in the experimental group and control group respectively. The experimental group participated in the health education program focusing on students centered by cooperative learning and used a variety of teaching methods such as discussion, brainstorming, games, multimedia’s and supplementary book for 5 weeks, 50 minutes per week. The control group participated in regular health education class. Questionnaire comprise of biosocial data, health literacy and safety motorcycling behavior developed by the researcher was used as an instruments to collect data. Data analysis was made for percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired-samples t-test and independent-samples t-test.

The results of the study showed that after participating in the health education program, the experimental group had higher mean scores on health literacy and safety motorcycling behavior than before participating in the program and than those in the control group at a .05 statistical significance level.
