Student Teachers’ Perception on Their Knowledge and Ability in Teaching Through Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University
The survey research aimed to explore student teachers’ perceptions their knowledge and ability in teaching through the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK).The population were 223 student teachers of Faculty of Education at Kasetsart University, academic year 2014 – 2015.The data were collected via questionnaire. The questionnaire composed of three parts: 1) the status of student teachers, 2) the use of information and communications technology, and the student teachers’ perceptions their knowledge and ability in information and communications technology, and 3) the opinion on the development of student teachers’ knowledge and ability in information and communications technology and their suggestion on the management practicum. Frequency and percentage were used to analyze the data.
The results showed that the most of student teachers had GPA higher than 3.00. The majority of the student had been teaching in Kasetsart University Laboratory School, Center for Educational Research and Development. Many students claimed that they had been teaching via TPACK in their classrooms. However, the study found that majority of the student believed they had a moderate level of knowledge and ability in teaching through TPACK. A number of students suggest that the Faculty of Education should set a course or conduct a workshop about TPACK.
