Abstract

The Effects of Project Approach Experience Provision Based on STEAM  Education Approach with Using Learning Local Resources in Samut Songkhram on Preschool Children’s Understanding Concepts  of Science

The purpose of this research was to study the effects of project approach experience provision based on STEAM education approach with using learning local resources in Samut Songkhram on preschool children’s understanding concepts of science. Subjects used in this study were 37 male and female preschool children ranging in ages between 5 to 6 years old. They were studying in kingdergarten level 2 class in the second semester year of 2015 in Anubansamutsongkhram school, Samut Songkhram  province. The research instruments included 3 project which contained 30 project - approach experience provision plans, a test of understanding  concepts of science and the observation form of understanding concepts of science in preschool children. The obtained data was analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The results of this research showed that the preschool children who participated in project approach experience provision based on STEAM education approach with using learning local resources in Samut Songkhram had higher understanding concepts of science posttest scores than pretest scores.  According to the observation form, the result showed that the preschool children understood 9 concepts of science better.
