Abstract

Characteristics towards Teaching Profession Standards of In-service Business Teachers in Thailand’s Leading Vocational Schools

The objective of this study was to investigate characteristics towards teaching profession standards of in-service business teachers in Thailand’s leading vocational schools. The characteristics included (1) mastery of subject matter and related sciences for teaching (2) ability on learning management (3) outstanding performances (4) dedication for learners and generosity to other teachers (5) teacher’s characteristics and (6) teacher’s personal behavior. Population of the study was 161 in-service business teachers from nine Thailand’s leading vocational schools. Research instrument was a questionnaire on characteristics towards teaching profession standards. Results showed that characteristics on teacher’s characteristics, teacher’s personal behavior, and dedication for learners and generosity to other teachers, were at ‘very high’ level while the characteristics on ability on learning management, mastery of subject matter and related sciences for teaching, and outstanding performances, were at ‘high’ level.
