Grade 11 Students’ Application Abilities in Real Life about Fluid Using Context-Based Learning
The objective of this research was to study the abilities of grade 11 students to apply their physics knowledge about fluid in real life using context-based learning. The participant was a class of 30 grade 11 students in science and mathematics program. Research tools were two-tier test for measuring students’ application abilities of knowledge about fluid in real life covered six types of application and work sheets. Data was analysed by content analysis. The results indicated that the grade 11 students showed application abilities more than 50% on all six types. The highest percentage of students (70%) demonstrated that they were able to apply principles of science and technology of fluid to fully understand the operation of tools and equipment used in everyday life. On the contrary, no students manage to fully understand and evaluate the news from mass media about science advancement related to fluid using their fluid knowledge.
