Abstract

Factors Related to Violence Behaviors of High School Students in Bangkok

The purposes of this research were to investigate 1) the violence behavior of high school students in Bangkok Metropolis and 2) factors related with the violence behavior of High school students in Bangkok Metropolis. A questionnaire was used for data collection.

Multi-stage sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 455 students from high school in Bangkok Metropolis. Data analysis comprised of percentage, mean and Chi-Square test, using computer program.

The findings of this study were as follows: More than half of students were female, grade 5 with the grade point average of 2.96, lived with their parents.  Parents of students with an average income were 38,167.03 baht. Three-fifths of the students were single family. More than two-thirds of the students were democratic parenting. More than two-third of the students were completed family. More than one-fourth of father’s education was a bachelor’s degree. Almost a quarter of mother’s education was a bachelor's degree. Most of father’s occupations were business owners, and mother’s occupations were general contractors. The finding of violence behavior found that almost three-fourths of students were physical violence behavior at low level and more than half of students were psychological violence behavior at low level.

The results of hypothesis testing showed statistical significance as follows: 1) personal factors; class level, grade point average, resident, father’s education level and mother’s education level were related to violence behavior at .05 level and 2) social factors; group of friend, media and online games were related to students’ physical and psychological violence behavior at .001 level.
