Preschool Children Parents’ Opinion Towards Cartoon Media
The Objective of this research was to study preschool children parents’ opinion towards cartoon media. Respondents were 133 parents of preschool children who were studying at levels 1-3 at Tubtong Kindergarten of the academic year 2013. Questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used as a tool for this study. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The research revealed that most of the respondents had an opinion towards the cartoon media that their children liked to watch The Western, Japanese and Thai cartoons respectively. Moreover, the research revealed that the children mostly watched cartoons on television, spending 1-2 hours every day. The most popular type of cartoon that they enjoyed the most was the funny ones. In addition, the parents mostly agreed that they would recommend only the appropriate cartoon programs to their children as well as closely monitor what programs they shouldn’t watch. Furthermore, they would explain to them if the cartoons were complex, violent and inappropriate. Eventually, what they least agreed was that the cartoon programs could increase an ability of learning and could improve an analytical skill to their children.
