The Development of Academic Leadership Indicators of Primary School Principals under the Office of Basic Education Commission

Abstract

The purposes of this study were; to find out factors and indicators of each factors of academic leadership of primary school principals under The Office of Basic Education Commission by mean of  document analysis and  in-depth interviews of  22 stakeholders  ; as well as,  to validate the models of each  academic leadership component by using Confirmatory Factors Analysis. The samples consisted of  660 principals  vice principals on academic affairs and  head of academic  affairs in primary schools who answered questionnaires; as well as, the confirmation for practices from the 9 educators who had experience in educational administration.  The statistical devices used in Delphi technique were Median and Inter-quartile range in Delphi technique and   Confirmatory Factor Analysis with  LISREL program.

             Conclusion of results;

  1. The academic leadership of primary school principals under the Office of Basic Education

Commission was found to be 5 components and each components consisted of indicators which were 1) Setting of  school academic affairs missions with 8 indicators  2) The management of teaching-learning activities with 16 indicators   3) Supporting academic affairs climate with 7 indicators  4) The development of  learning environment supporting with 6 indicators  5) The Evaluation of  students’ learning  with 7 indicators

            2.   The hypothesize model of academic leadership indicators was validated with the empirical data with  χ2 value of 385.22, χ2 relation value of 1.10  GFA value of 0.97, AGFI value of 0.93. These kinds of standard criteria implied that The Models of academic leadership indicators of primary school principals were validate with empirical data.

            3. The confirmatory of structural academic model, possibility in practice, by using focus group technique, it was found that  the components in  academic model and   the indicators in each components were accepted  by the experienced  educational specialists.
