The Relationship between Kalyanamitra and Forgiveness of Lower Secondary School Students in One of Schools in Bangkok

The purposes of this research were 1) to study 4 groups of spiritual friendship or “KALYANAMITRA” which comprise of parent, teacher, friend and media on each student and the level of FORGIVENESS as a consequence. 2) to study correlation between KALYANAMITRA and FORGIVENESS on each student. The research samples were 107 students in a lower secondary public school in Bangkok. Cluster sampling was used. The instruments for collection were 2 rating scales questionnaires comprising Forgiveness (reliability, Cronbach’s alpha = .936), and Other People and Me which consisted of 4 parts: parent, teacher, friend and media (reliability, Cronbach’s alpha = .867 .926 .869 and .781 respectively). The data were analyzed by using Mean, Standard Deviation, Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient. The findings of this study were as below:
1) The level of KALYANAMITRA of lower secondary school students receiving from parent (M = 4.87, SD = .566) and teacher (M = 4.58, SD = .742) were high. Receiving from friend (M = 4.42, SD = .664) and media were intermediate.
2) The level of FORGIVENESS of lower secondary school students were upper intermediate (M = 4.64, SD = .793)
3) Having parent, teacher and friend as KALYANAMITRA significantly related to FORGIVENESS of lower secondary school students and access to media as Kalyanamitra was not related to Forgiveness of lower secondary school students.
