THE STUDY OF THE WORD CLASS, USAGE AND TEACHING ABOUT“JIAN+ADJECTIVE”

Abstract

The word class and usage of “Jian+adj”, which has been a long standing issue, becomes an obstruction for relevant research and teaching. Relevant research has been analyzed in the paper, both quantitative and qualitative analysis has been made on “Jian Kuan”, “Jian Chang” and “Jian Yuan” based on massive corpus. Part of the word class and usage of “Jian+adj” has been concluded in the paper. The paper concludes that the basic usage of “Jian+adj” is “Quantifier+Jian+adj”, which “Jian+adj” serve as a verb. The adjectives in “Jian+adj” are all particular character adjectives. Besides, “Jian Fang” could also serve as an adjective, which is wildly used in “adj+Jian Fang” or solo use.
