Factors Supporting the Success of Education Sandbox Schools: A Case Study of Yala Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to explore the key factors supporting the success of education sandbox schools in Yala Province. With the use of ‘embedded case study design,’ this qualitative study positioned schools as embedded units within the case study of Yala Province. Six schools were purposively selected out of 28 education sandbox schools based on their successful implementation of the Educational Sandbox Policy. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis. Three key informants from each school included the school principal, the head of the academic affairs division, and a representative from the school board. Thematic analysis, data triangulation as a means of establishing validity, and focus group discussions for confirmatory factor analysis were employed to analyze the data. The findings revealed seven key factors contributing to the success of education sandbox schools in Yala: 1) clear understanding of education policy and community context; 2) innovative leadership of school administrators; 3) effective management of resources and budgets; 4) potential for curriculum development and instructional design; 5) organizational culture focusing on innovation; 6) promotion of learning organizations; and 7) establishment of networks to enhance educational quality. These findings can be utilized as a conceptual framework for developing schools’ strategic plans for educational quality enhancement and successful implementation of the policy in education sandbox schools.
