Abstract

This research aimed to analyse methods, characteristics and factors related to learning management of kindergarten and primary education during the first epidemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in March 2020. The study was based on research and development design with mixed methodology through real practices performed by teachers, educational technology staff, administrators, students and guardians. The aim was to develop an immediate New Normal instruction in accordance with COVID-19 prevention and control measures imposed by the Thai Government and involved agencies. The population was 130 kindergarten and primary students, 130 guardians, elevent teachers, six administrators and two supporting staff at Naresuan University Demonstration School (Kindergarten and Primary) in Phitsanulok Province. The instruments were a questionnaire, a set of semi-structured interviews, six-week learning lessons, a storyboard with scripts and 11 newly created bilingual VDO clips. The findings revealed that the school’s learning management for those students was limited due to the imposed measures: social distancing, mask wearing, on-site restriction and online instruction. Such limitations, nevertheless, have led to New Normal innovations on instructive methods that suit the school’s context during the epidemic and have enhanced the students’ learning continually.
