A Study of Guidelines for the Development of School Botanical Gardens in Prachuapkhirikhan Province

The purposes of this research were to: 1) study administration of school botanical gardens in Prachuapkhirikhan province, 2) study and compare needs of administrationof school botanical gardens in Prachuapkhirikhan province and 3) present guidelines for the development of the operation of school botanical gardens in Prachuapkhirikhan province. This study was a mixed methods research between qualitative research and quantitative research. The sample group used in qualitative data consisted of school administrators, teachers and the sample group used in quantitative data consisted of studentsin Prachuapkhirikhan province with the total number of 400 people using stratified random sampling. The tool used to collect data was a 5-level rating scale. The statistics used in this study were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and F-test.
The research findings were found that: 1. The administration of the school botanical garden focused on the benefits of integrated connection with learning in various subject areas in school. 2. The needs of administration of school botanical gardens in Prachuapkhirikhan province in overall were rated at a high level( = 4.18, SD. = 0.40). The comparison results of the needs were found that students who had difference gender, age, level of education, GPA, purpose of using the botanical garden, and people who influenced the use of the botanical garden, had administrative needs of botanic garden in schools in PrachuapKhiriKhan province in overall and each aspects were significantly different at the level of 0.05. 3. The important guidelines for the development of botanical gardens included 1) planting trees in the botanical garden, 2) clear location tag and easy for people interested to visit, 3) sequencing and classification of plants according to groups or regions appropriately and 4) appropriate facilities and break point for education in appropriate areas.
