Khowledge & Understanding on Democratic Politics of the People and the People's Attitude towards Development of Democratic Culture in Chum Phae Municipality Area, Khon Kaen province

Abstract

This  research aimed:  1)  to study  knowledge  and understanding  on democratic  politics  of  the people  in Chum Phae  municipality  area,  Khon Kaen province,  2)  to  investigate  the  people’s attitude  towards  the  development  of  democratic  political  culture  in  Chum  Phae  municipality  area,  Khon Kaen  province.  The  research  populations were  23,694  who  had  the  right  to vote and  had  living address registered  in  Chum  Phae  municipality  area. Simple  size  was  drawn  by  stratified  random sampling  of 393.  The  research  instrument  was a set  of questionnaire  with 5 level  scales; statistics  used for data analysis  were  percentage, mean and standard deviation.

          The research  findings  were found that:  1) The people’s knowledge and understanding on 5aspects  in  democratic  politics  were revealed in term of rating level from the most, the moderate and the less, respectively as follows: 1) the sovereignty was  34.1%, 41.5%, and 24.4%;  The19.3% ; The legal was 41.9%, 36.9%,  and  21.2%  and  The majority  was 53.5%, 30.5% and 16.0%.  2)  The people’s attitude towards the development of democratic political  culture  in  Chum Phae  municipality  area, Khon Kaen  in overall  aspects  was  very  high  level.  Considering into  each aspect  ranking  from the hi gest to the lowest mean, it was found that : the educational  institution was at  (  = 4.62), political institutions was at (  = 4.54),  family  institutions was at (  = 4.53),  mass  media was at (   = 4.45) and religion was at (  = 4.42)
