The Sangha Act, 2505 (Amendment No. 3, 2017) Concerning Political Law

Abstract

The Prime Minister, with the approval of the Sangha, proposes the name of the highest rank title priest to the King to establish the Patriarch in the event that the highest rank title priest cannot perform his duties, the Prime Minister, with the approval of the Sangha, proposes the name of other monarchs, who are able to perform duties to establish the Patriarch causing problems to interpret and discuss legal issues. Therefore the establishment of the 20th Patriarch of the Ratanakosin period cannot be done.

Then the National Legislative Assembly By the opinion of the cabinet enacted a law to propose amendments to the Sangha Act, BE 2535 (Amendment No. 3, 2017), Section 7. The King established the Patriarch. And the prime minister signed to accept the royal orders. At present, the 20th Thai Patriarch of Rattanakosin is SomdejPhraAriyawongsakot, the original name is Amporn Prasatthaphong, PhayaChaimaAmopro and other articles still adhere to the law of the Sangha Act, BE 2535 (Amendment No.2, 1992.
