Factors Influencing First-Year Undergraduate Student ‘Final Decision On Their Admission of Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration Program at the School of Public Administration, Chiangrai Rajabhat University

Abstract

The purposes of this study aimed to invertage Factors Influencing First-Year Undergraduate Student ‘Final Decision on Their Admission of Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration Program at the School of Public Administration, Chiangrai Rajabhat University as well as the weekday-program students' opinions toward their final decision on their admission of the bachelor's degree in Public Administration Program compared with the weekend-program students' opinions. The sampling group consisted of 264 first-year undergraduate students in academic year of 2018 majoring in Public Administration and selected by the clustering sampling technique. These included 200 first-year undergraduate students studying in the weekday program and 64 first-year undergraduate students studying in the weekend program. The instruments used for data collection included a questionnaire divided into 3 major parts: 1) Informant's personal information; 2) Factors influencing the undergraduate student’s final decision on their admission of the bachelor's degree in public administration program, and 3) detailed suggestions related to other different factors. The data were statistically analyzed using Frequency Distribution, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, and Two Sample Independent T-test The findings of the study revealed that factors influencing the first-year undergraduate students' final decision on their admission of the bachelor's degree in Public Administration Program at the School of Public Administration, Chiangrai Rajabhat University, with its mean  of (x̄ = 4.13), were mostly found in terms of the availability of lecturers (x̄ = 4.38), followed by their curriculum (x̄ = 4.22), and the undergraduate students' and student parents' social values (x̄ = 4.17) otherwise, the weekday-program students' opinions toward their final decision on their admission of the bachelor's degree in Public Administration Program compared with the weekend-program students' opinions were not significantly different.
