Cyberbullying among Secondary School Students: Prevalence, Problem-solving and Risk behaviors

This paper aimed to study the prevalence, the problem-solving method for bullying in cyber space and the risk behaviors for cyberbullying of secondary school students in Khon Kaen municipality area. Data were collected from grade 1-3 of secondary school students using a questionnaire asking about bully behavior of students in the cyber space. The questionnaire was applied from Cyber-Aggression Perpetration and Victimization Scale. There were 24 groups of focus group discussion, 13-15 members in each group with a total number of 350 members. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, standard deviation and the multiple regression analysis were used to study risk behaviors that positively affected cyber bullying.
The result show, that in 54.57% of cyber space, the students were bullied, female students were more likely to be bullied than male students. The most common form of bullying was online gossip or 60.73%. The cause of the cyberbullying 42.86% was having a dispute before in the real area. Students’ problem-solving method 80% was consultation with close friends, and Students’ rise behavior of bullying was accepting friends through social media they did not know before with statistical significance at .01 level.
