The Development of Basically Mathematic Skills and Desirable Behaviors of Early Childhood Children by the Storytelling with Natural Material

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) develop the basically mathematic skills of early childhood children by the storytelling with natural material at least 70% of the mean score and 70% of total students passed the criteria, and 2) develop the desirable behaviors of early childhood children by the storytelling with natural material at least 70% of the mean score and 70% of total students passed the criteria. The sample group included 16 Year 1 - kindergarten students, Anuban Borrabue, Sub-district Administrative Organization School, Borrabue Sub-district, Borrabue District, Mahasarakham Province, Semester 2, 2022 Academic Year, the sample group was obtained from cluster random sampling method. The research instruments contained 12 learning management plans within 6 hours which had suitable qualification for this group at the highest level, 18 items of basic mathematics measurement form with 3 multiple choices. It had difficulty value between 0.63-0.77, discrimination between 0.40-0.60 and reliability = 0.70, desirable behavior measurement form with 20 items. It had validity between 0.67-1.00. This research activities devided in 6 weeks by 2 plans per week. Data collection by 18 items of basically mathematic measurement and 20 items of desirable behavior measurement. The statistics for analyzing the data covered the mean, standard deviation and percentage. The research findings found that: 1. The students learning by storytelling activities with natural material had the basically mathematic scores of all students’ mean score equaled 14.69 with 81.61% passing 70% criterion and 16 students could pass 70% of the mean score with 81.255% of all students. 2. All students had the desirable behavior mean scores, equaled 50.68 from the total score of 60 with 84.46%, and 14 students could pass 70% of the mean score, with 87.50% of all students.
