A Comparison of Learning Achievement in English subjects of Grade 2 Students at Ratchamontri (Pluem-Chuemnukul) School Using Multimedia and the Traditional Teaching Method

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to create and find the efficiency of multimedia titled vocabulary of grade 2 students to meet the criteria standard of 80/80, (2) to compare English leaning achievement between using multimedia and the traditional teaching method. The sample respondent was students in grade 2 in the first semester, academic year 2023, Ratchamontri (Pluem-Chemnanukul) School, Bang Khun Thian District Office Bangkok. For research methodology, simple random sampling was used in this study. There were 2 sample rooms with totally 60 students, in which 30 students were the experimental group and the other 30 students were the control group. Research tools used in this study were (1) 5 English lesson plans on vocabulary for 10 periods. The quality was equal to 4.93, which was at the highest level. (2) 30 questions on English achievement tests, The discrimination value was 0.58, and reliability of the whole test was 0.94. (3)5 vocabulary sets of multimedia for grade 2 students, The quality was equal to 80.59 / 80.93. The statistics used to analyze data in this study comprised mean, standard Deviation, and t-test.

          The research findings were found that: 1) The efficiency of multimedia titled vocabulary of grade 2 students indicated value at 80.59 / 80.93 which met the criteria standard. 2) English learning achievement taught by multimedia was higher than those taught by the traditional method with statistical significance at .05 level.
