The Development Activities to Enhance Soft Skills in the Workplace for Undergraduate Students of Phuket Rajabhat University

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study soft skills in work for undergraduate students according to the employer’s needs of Phuket Rajabhat University 2) to design and develop activities to enhance soft skills in work for undergraduate of Phuket Rajabhat University and 3) to compare soft skills before and after participating in skill development activities in work for undergraduate students of Phuket Rajabhat University. The sample group consisted of key informants who were 5 employers in Phuket province and the fourth-year student representatives 156 participants. The qualitative data analysis with content analysis. The statistics used in quantitative data analysis, descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean and standard deviation. And the inferential statistics for hypothesis testing used a paired – sample t-test. The results of the study found that: : 1) the employer’s needs soft skills in work, by arranging in order of importance as follow : the ability to adapt to work, communication skills and creativity. 2) Design and develop activities to enhance soft skills in work for undergraduate students of Phuket Rajabhat University from 5 faculties organized the curriculum into 2 parts: workshops and group relationship activities. The activity plan is defined in 7 steps using the CIPPA model. 3) Comparison of Soft Skills in Work for Undergraduate Students Phuket Rajabhat University before and after participating in skill development activities soft skills and measurement assessment before and after development, classified by aspects overall before development was moderate level ( gif.latex?\bar{x} = 2.63) and after development at a high level ( gif.latex?\bar{x} = 3.76) , the soft skills comparison result after development was higher than before development at the .01 level of significance.
