Abstract

The purpose of this research was to synthesize the role of Minecraft: Education Edition (M:EE) on learners’ learning development by using a systematic review. The samples were research indexed in EBSCO, ERIC, and Scopus databases published during 2016 to 2023. Research instruments included a research screening form, a critical appraisal form, and a data extraction form. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. Research selection criteria were as follows: being experimental research or quasi-experimental research; using the M:EE platform for learning development; and identifying the target learners. Results revealed 64 studies by searching but only 14 studies met the inclusion criteria. Findings revealed that the M:EE platform can be used for learners in all levels of education. The main teaching strategy is game-based learning but can be integrated with other teaching strategies. Most of the subjects taught were Computing and Sciences. However, this platform can be used to teach other various subjects. In terms of learning outcomes, M:EE provides learners’ positive learning outcomes in all subjects and fosters the development of learners vital soft skills.
