Abstract

The purpose of this research was to synthesize emerging pedagogies in Home Economics (HE) through research synthesis in the Scopus database published over the past decade. Documentary research is used as the research methodology. The research population consisted of Home Economics Education research published in the Scopus database between 2014 and 2023. To acquire emerging pedagogy in Home Economics, a coding sheet adapted from Hutchinson and Lovell (2004) was used, which included teaching strategies, teachers' roles, learners' roles, and the impact of the teaching. The research instrument was validated through "face validity" and the "index of congruence" done by three educational experts. The results are revealed as follows: Integrative learning, thinking skills development, social inclusion, and soft skill development were all used in emerging teaching strategies. Teachers play the roles of instructional designers, thinkers, integrators, storytellers, and questioners. Learners play significant roles as active self-learners and practice thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. The emerging pedagogy impacts graduates’ mastery of HE science and positively extends to the development of family, community, society, and a sustainable economy.
