Translanguaging is currently a hot topic in language education. Chinese scholarship has begun to pay attention to translanguaging since 2021. This paper adopted scoping review to synthesize the current state and developing trend of translanguaging research in L2 class in China based on CNKI. Results show that 1) late as it began, translanguaging research in China develops very fast with its focus shifting from theoretical exploration to practical application. Starting from 2021, translanguaging research in China reached its peak in 2024 showing a rapid growth of interest in this regard ; 2) research topics of translanguaging research in China include theoretical development, teaching practice in the contexts of content and language integrated learning, knowledge construction in English-medium instruction and identity construction in multilingual environment; 3) translanguaging research will continue to develop and exert its influence on language policy and pedagogy; 4) translanguaging provides a new perspective for international Chinese language education, and translanguaging pedagogy is promising for Chinese language teaching practice and theoretical development. Future research is suggested to further combine translanguaging and international Chinese language education, so as to offer new path for Chinese language teaching in multilingual contexts.
