Cultural product design provides guidelines for creating new products and plays a role in sharing culture with a wider audience. It enhances opportunities for generating value from local materials and traditional creation techniques, contributing to sustainable development.
This research's objective is to study the cultural characteristics of Lanna through the handicrafts of the khantoke and Lanna lantern and to design and create cultural product prototypes that reflect Lanna culture to evaluate effectiveness and user satisfaction. The study of product concepts and forms was conducted by developing the form and synthesizing data according to the guidelines of Lin (2007). The sample group for data collection and evaluation were conducted using purposive sampling with two target groups; 20 representatives of entrepreneurs involved in souvenir production or distribution, and 100 tourists. The tools used in the research consisted of a cultural characteristics analysis table, a cultural product design draft evaluation form, a questionnaire on opinions regarding participation in being a producer or seller of cultural products, and a questionnaire on opinions regarding the meaning and attitudes toward cultural products as souvenirs and the purchasing behavior of tourists in the Chiang Mai province area. The study's results for the product forms designed were the accessories and decorative group, which included a rope necktie and a bracelet, and the home-use and decorative items group, which included a flashlight keychain, a desk sensor, and a desk lamp. The results of the evaluation for the desire to participate in the production or sale of cultural products were at a high level (=3.99, S.D.=0.98). The evaluation of the opinions and attitudes toward cultural products as souvenirs was also at a high level (=3.60, S.D.=1.01). The relationship between opinions and attitudes and the cultural products had a positive correlation and was at a high to very high level ( r ) 0.662, with statistical significance at the.05 level.
