Development of Partners for Solving the Problems of Selling Unsafe Drugs and Food in Ban Hong District, Lamphun Province

Abstract

The purposes of this action research were to study development of partners for solving
the problems of selling unsafe drugs and food in Ban Hong District, Lamphun Province by
relying on participation and group discussion for the development of partners in solving the
problems of selling unsafe drugs and food. .The methods of collecting data were interviewing,
as-participant observation, as-non-participant observation and group discussion. The target
group was entrepreneurs of grocery stores and the key informants were entrepreneurs of
grocery stores, public health officers and volunteers of public health.
The results of this research showed that participation and group discussion could encourage
development of partners in solving the problems of selling unsafe drugs and food. 15
Entrepreneurs of grocery stores brainstormed altogether to find causes of problems, way to
solve problems and did activities to solve problems. Plans for solving problems were set up
for training about knowledge of drugs and food for entrepreneurs of grocery stores, creating
schedule for cleaning and investigating products in grocery stores, visiting grocery stores
altogether within group, and setting up prototype grocery store contest. These methods could
decrease the problems of unsafe drugs and food, leading to continuation in operating plan,
further contacting and supporting among the entrepreneurs of grocery stores in community
