The Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Thai Youth’s Media Literacy: A Case Study of Youth in Chanthaburi Province

Abstract
This research aimed to conduct a confirmatory factor analysis of media literacy of Thai youth in Chanthaburi Province. A rating scale questionnaire related to the components of media literacy of youth in Chanthaburi Province was used collect data. The sample group consisted of 300 youths aged 15 to 24 years old in Chanthaburi Province. Research findings were shown to be consistent with empirical data, with a chi-square/df index of 1.67, p-value of 0.00, RMSEA of 0.04, RMR of 0.01, CFI of 0.94, and TLI of 0.92. The confirmatory factor analysis of the five components revealed that each component had a factor loading between 0.57 and 0.95, meeting acceptable evaluation criteria. The media understanding component showed the highest factor loading (0.95), followed by the evaluation (0.93), media analysis (0.92), media utilization (0.84), and media exposure (0.57), components.
